3D Apparel Designer

3D Apparel Designer as part of JULUVI software package has been developed to considerably increase flexibility and operational efficiency of experimental manufacture. With a 3D model, an apparel designer can develop their ideas, find best color, fabric and silhouette solutions. An apparel constructor can be released from sample fabrication and verify construction accuracy, as the style put on a 3D model realistically shows how a ready garment will look like. It has become possible because 3D apparel designing considers such important details as mechanical and physical fabric properties, interaction between fabric and model, and visual fabric quality.

With 3D Apparel Designer you cannot only receive a volume image, but also:

  • visually estimate a ready garment;
  • select fabric pattern;
  • estimate the garment balance;
  • view fitting allowances;
  • view tension distribution

The garment is put on a 3D model like a real one: patterns are sewn together in seams, which is set by a constructor using the patterns constructed with JULIVI software package or transferred from other systems with Converter software.

Stage 1. Putting a construction on a model.

For this, you can use one of the following modes: pattern left/right orientation, pattern shrinkage/extension, or ruffle/folder making.

Stage 2. Dressing a model.

At this stage the software recalculates data for the style patterns and the style can be viewed in volume. After this, a ready garment put on the model is put out on the screen. The software also makes possible to make patterns of decorative elements (collar, lapel, folders etc.)

With the garment put on the model, constructors and designers can find best color solutions, view previously scanned fabrics, and set pattern match for the pieces with pattern match option.

With different view modes you can view the garment in detail and:

  • estimate construction balance, i.e. accuracy of vertical side seams and shoulder seam in relation to human body;
  • measure distance between the garment and human body to make fitting allowances;
  • estimate garment tension on human body (shown in red). It helps understand how free and comfortable a person would feel in the garment and experiment with matching garments to each other.

The constructor can make the following styling with a 3D model:

  • Additional line marking. You can put lines on patterns, and the software will transfer them to the style put on the model. While shifting lines on the pattern you can see them shift in 3D mode and correct their position or form.
  • Silhouette change. With this function, you can extend or narrow silhouette of the garment or its pieces.
  • Length correction. With a 3D image, you can find best garment proportions and correct length of the garment or its pieces.
  • Pattern making. You can make patterns for elastic fabrics (T-shirts, sundresses) or derivative patterns (pockets, ruffles, cuffs, band collars)  right on the model.

Apparel Constructor

Apparel Constructor has been developed for construction of patterns for apparel, footwear, headwear and upholstered furniture etc. It lets you construct apparel from creation of a base, or standard design to production startup, which also includes grading, styling, making derivative patterns (linings, fusings etc.).  The software is adapted for work with textiles, cotton, leather and fur.

Main Features (standard software package)

1 Input of patterns into the system

  • parametric designing of base and/or model apparel designs
  • The software package can include (must be purchased separately) more than 50 base apparel designs designed according to different methods, including Muller’s method; and a number of methods for designing underwear, workwear, headwear, cotton wear, handbags, and gloves. When purchasing Designer software (see description), you can input required methods for apparel designing, including you own original methods, and use them to design new apparel styles.
  • copying from previously designed apparel styles
  • You can copy patterns or groups of patterns from one or several styles and the system will make links to them.

2. Output and display of patterns on the screen

  • you can output  patterns onto the screen or remove them from the screen, replace, rotate, flip, bend over a certain line or overlap them; overlapped patterns can be combined in groups to make measurements, put lines on all the group patterns, perform styling, build derivative patterns etc.

3. Increasing allowances for seam processing and final hem processing

  • the software lets you make allowances for seam processing (around all pieces or on separate pieces) with constant or variable seam width, taking into account seam and hem processing methods.

4. Inspection of apparel patterns for lengths (fittings)

  • powerful system for measuring lengths and fittings allows to measure lengths of pieces, piece sections, distance between points (incl. superposed pieces) and its projection on coordinate axes, make algebraic expressions with selected lengths.  You can view measurement results for all sizes and use them for pattern modifications.

5. Inspection of apparel patterns for their match to each other

  • you can superpose two or several patterns and see their match for all sizes and make modifications to one, several or all sizes

6. Making necessary modifications

  • you can mark or delete lines, eliminate deformations etc. on patterns of one, several or all sizes; modification value can be set for one size or all sizes;

7. Construction of derivative apparel patterns (lining, fusing, tacking etc.)

  • with function for construction of most frequently used derivative patterns (facings, fusings, belts, flounces), you can efficiently construct derivative patterns on basis of base ones (also using pattern groups) and make their gradations;

8. Automatic reconfiguration of derivative patterns after modification of base ones

  • this function also allows to  fit a ready apparel design to an individual figure;

9. Sending patterns to print

  • you can output on plotter and later send to printer separate patterns, their pieces, gradations, pattern groups on scale and in natural size; if patterns do not suit the printer paper size, they are printed piece by piece.

Option features:

1. Grading.

  • Proportion grading method:you set necessary allowances in pattern control points on coordinate axes. Allowances can be equal or unequal in size range and can be set from size to size or for several sizes. There are also a number of functions to make grading easier and faster.
  • Parametric grading method: can be applied with designs made on basis of certain methods; in this case grading is done automatically using measurements from measurement base.
  • Measurement grading method: you set formulas based on measurements which then calculate allowance values to be made. This method is quite efficient for children’s apparel grading,
  • Extra grading features:
    • making patterns in temporary sizes from patterns of two available sizes;
    • transit of patterns from size to size;
    • making missing sizes proportionally from two closest sizes;
    • control of availability of all pattern sizes;
    • combination of several pattern gradations in one;
    • conversion of patterns into another size scale.

2. Apparel styling:

  • modifications of any kind and complexity can be made to nests or pattern groups.

3.Construction of separate patterns and pattern sets

  • (sleeves, pockets, collars etc.) with help of macros.

4. Input of patterns with a digitizer:

  • you can input a ready pattern incl. all its elements: hem, ready garment, grainline, inside contours, notches, pin holes, undercuttings etc.); you can also input one size pattern and then make its gradation.

5. Import of patterns:

Converter module lets you work with the following formats:

  • AAMAANSI (DXF) of systems ASSYST, LECTRA, INVESTRONICA, GERBER, NOVOCUT;

  • With visual programming technology, you can make constructions of any complexity: you perform usual operations (put points, make lines etc.) and the system records their sequence of actions as a construction algorithm which can be easily corrected if necessary.

Archiver

Usage of the "Archiver" software

Input of finished (paper, cardboard) apparel pieces and (or) separate lines with the help of digitizer, with the purpose of their further use in the "Design" software, "Apparel Constructor" or pattern layout in the "Marker" software.

As an auxiliary software of the Julivi soft hardware complex.
As a part of CAD systems from other producers to allow entering information with the help of digitizers of various types.

Functional Capabilities of the "Archiver" software

Entering Apparel Patterns Pieces

  • The software allows to enter a fully formed pattern, which does not require additional processing, taking into account all processing elements (cut, finished view, grainline, inner contours, gashes, spots for pinholes and undercuts, etc.).

Entering Graded Nest (gradation) of Apparel Patterns

  • Graded nest (gradation) of patterns can be entered at once of size-by-size with further processing in the "Apparel constructor" software.

Entering Patterns (or graded nest of patterns) of Apparel with Dimensions Larger than Dimensions of a Digitizer

  • In this case a pattern can be entered in sections.

Entering Separate Lines

  • Lines or sections of patters can be entered in the "Design" software to be used for constructing drafts of apparel.

  • Only autonomous version of the software has such an option; this version can operate as a part of apparel design systems from other producers.

A user can conduct preliminary preview of a layout, selected for drafting, as well as determine its basic parameters (length, width, lay type, composition, description). A queue is formed from selected layouts. Basic operations for managing a queue are supported: adding to a queue, deleting from a queue, changing an order of layout drafting, pausing and resuming drafting.

Creating Pattern Pieces Scheme for Drafting on a plotter

The software allows to prepare tasks for drafting. For this, separate patterns pieces or their graded nests (gradations) can be displayed, taking into account requirements for drafting all elements, which form a pattern (seams, sights, pinholes, cut lines, grainlines, titles, text, additional contours).

Drafting Pattern Schemes on a Plotter

An option to send to draft tasks, formed in the "Design" and "Apparel Constructor - Maestro" software, is available.

Forming ISO-files

ISO-files, meant to manage automatic cutting machines, are formed on the basis of ready pattern pieces layouts.

Viewing Layout Files in ISO and HPGL Formats

  • The software automatically determines a format of a file being opened. Layout parameters are displayed on the screen (format, name, length, width and scale coefficient of measurements). It is possible to preview: points of pattern construction; knife movement on a cutting table; lines of blank movement of a knife; cut numbering, set in the "Marker" software; list of commands from a reference file.




Settings of Optimization Operation
